ALASKA CHARTER

ALASKA CHARTER

Summer 2014, imagine yourself to a sailing along the scenic waters of Alaska, where you will enjoy the beauty of endless forests, majestic mountains and silent waterways as you cruise past numerous straits, most picturesque and accessible bays, and plethora of small inlets within the amazing Inside Passage. Hear the roar of icebergs as you drift among the floating ice at the face of a huge glacier. Listen to the cry of the eagles as you turn gently on anchor all afternoon watching the live glacier in all its glory.

PACIFIC NORTHWEST:

The Pacific Northwest is not the first location you think of when chartering a yacht, but an increasing number of elite superyachts, including more and more explorer yachts are hitting these shores or include the Inside Passage on their global rotation.

YACHTS:

In general, we would recommend a yacht in the 130-260 foot range, which will provide ample space for up to four, six or eight adults.  A yacht with an onboard helicopter or at least a helipad would be the most appropriate choice should your budget be large enough to allow for this as that way you could make the wilderness excursions much more accessible.  Alternatively, mega yachts such as PACIFIC YELLOWFIN, which offer great adventure potential are certain the best alternative.  And if your budget is lower, small explorer yacht such as MY TIVOLI are also an excellent and indeed very private and luxurious choice.

ALASKA YACHT CHARTER ITINERARY:

For a 7 day superyacht charter in NorthWest Pacific, we suggest flying into Vancouver B.C. and spending a few days touring around this lovely metropolis and beyond as its voted the most beautiful city year after year with the summer period offerings a wonderful temperature too.

From Vancouver you will slowly sail up to the historic town of Ketchikan, which is known for its totem poles, and quaint boardwalks but marine and freshwater sport fishing opportunities abound. Southeast Alaska is a place where the sport angler can stay busy year round fishing for wild trout, all five sorts of Pacific salmon, halibut, and a variety of other species.

From Ketchikan you could hire the sea plane to take you over the Misty Fjords National Monument, which is a beautiful and unspoiled wilderness area located 35 miles outside Ketchikan, Alaska.  Highlights include snow-capped peaks, glacially-carved valleys, alpine lakes, sheer granite cliffs, spectacular waterfalls and abundant wildlife.  It is best to see this area from above in a floatplane.

Sailing though the stunning whale territory where you will see many Killer whales between March and October.  Then you will head over to Desolation Sound, which is part of the  marine park, with many protected anchorages tucked into bays where temperatures reach to the mid 80’s degrees, so you can swim, hike, picnic in spectacular scenery and maybe encounter a bear or two ...

Now heading further north to Juneau and you will see why so many choose to visit and live there. In Juneau, you can watch humpbacks in the morning, take in performing arts in the evening, and toss back a few locally brewed beers in some of the most fun bars, at night.  Juneau is an eclectic town, one you wont be able to forget in a hurry.

Finally make your way though stunning landscape up to the gateway to the Klondike, this quaint town Skagway is very special.  You will find Skagway as the place where the past lives on, where the cries of  “gold in the Yukon” still echo from steep canyon walls, where the sounds of barroom pianos and boomtown crowds ring out in the night. A place where the romance and excitement of yester-year linger around every street corner.  Then you will set sail for the finale, Glacier Bay national Park.

If all that is not enough, retire back to your own deck and sample the most fabulous and enchanting views one can only get during a private yacht charter on your own super yacht.

Ms Couradon chartered a 75' luxury sailing yacht in South of France. The boat was delivered to Nice for an easy embarkation close to the airport and without any extra fees. The charter went perfectly and the party found sailing to be a refreshing experience given the family owns a 60' motor yacht.
