Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta proves success for Nauta designed yachts!

The ultimate super sail racing event, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, first launched in 2008, ended up last week, opening up the Mediterranean superyacht calendar. Sucessfully organised by the YCCS (Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in Sardinia) and Boat International Media, it attracted an ever-increasing fleet of sailing yachts. All type of super sail yachts, from modern to classic, from performance to cruising hulls, all headed for the stunningly emerald sea waters of Island of Sardinia in June, all intent on four days of exhilarating sailing. Light winds, fair weather and high temperatures, slightly different conditions from the usual windy June in Sardinia, ruled this year edition. Nauta Yachts lined up 4 boats on 15 entries: Cookson 84’ My Song in Class “B” and SW 100’ Blues, SW 100’ Cape Arrow and SW 82’ Grande Orazio in Class “C”.
During the three-day regatta, the competition among the 15 boats has been strongly fought, even in the gentle breeze and summer holiday condition of the sea.
The Class B standings was easily set by My Song, holding an unassailable lead after three first out of three races.
In Class C, third race was the day for the three Southern Wind / Nauta yachts taking part in the regatta.
Grande Orazio showed to be in top form, and she quickly forged through the fleet. Meanwhile, Blues and Cape Arrow were engaging in an epic duel that would see Blues hold on at the end to cross the line just 21 seconds ahead of her Southern Wind sistership, a thrilling conclusion to the race. Grande Orazio’s emphatic victory of third race made her to lead at the head of Class C, with three wins out of three.
Two first places out of three Classes at the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 8th edition, confirmed the combined souls of Nauta design, performance and elegance in comfort, celebrating at best the 30th anniversary of the Milan based studio.
For Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta 9th Edition to be held in 2016, there will be more super sail yachts competing. Some of these will be run by owners themselves, others will be made available for mega yacht charters. You could both participate in the competition or simply watch the racing on sides.
